The 2008 meeting of the AMCA Executive Council was held April 25, 2008 in Eau Claire prior to the AMCA Big Sing.

In Attendance

     Bill Rowe represented the WUM district and Paul Carlton represented UMW. NYP had no representatives in attendance. Also present were Jim Egan, AMCA Executive Director, Norb Lehmann, AMCA Treasurer and Ron Stenzel, Executive Council Vice Chairman. The meeting was chaired by Ron in the absence of Ric Addenbrooke who recently submitted his resignation as Executive Council Chairman.

AMCA Membership
     Regular membership in AMCA this year is 493, of which 355 are from UMW. There are also 39 Associate members (Directors and Accompanists) of whom 25 are from UMW. The 68 Student members are all from the UWEC Singing Statesmen.
     Paul Carlton reported that the Marshall Area Men's Chorus has a new director, Chad Felton. All other directors and accompanists remain the same. 12 choruses remain active.

Treasurers Report & Scholarships

     The Treasurer's report was reviewed and approved. The proposed budget for 2008-09 was discussed. Expenditures are expected to exceed revenues by $1600. The council decided to cover this deficit from reserves and maintain regular dues at $10 per year.

     3 AMCA Scholarships @ $1,000 and 1 @ $1200 will again be awarded for the 2008-2009 school year.

Funding TTBB Arrangements
     The initiative to fund TTBB arrangements of popular music was not aggressively pursued in the past year due to the illness and untimely death of John Robert's wife. A memorial in the amount of $100 was donated to the AMCA Scholarship Fund in her honor. The Council is still determined to make this initiative happen and intends to revitalize it in the coming year. Elections
     Ron Stenzel was elected Chairman of the Executive Council and Bill Rowe was elected Vice Chairman.

Next Meeting
     The venue for the 2009 Executive Council meeting is TBD depending upon the participation or lack thereof by the NYP district. The meeting will either be hosted by NYP or it will be held in conjunction with the WUM district Big Sing.
