Topic: Scholarship Progress for 2008-2009
Comments: At this time the Scholarship Candidate Evaluators have had candidate documents, transcripts and musical performance recordings for almost two weeks.
Again, there is a good group of student candidates from which to choose. They range from high school seniors just on their way to a university program to university juniors who may finish their studies in the next school year.

Topic: First Candidate Application Received
Comments: Our current scholarship program is definitely in progress at this time. I am please to say that the first student candidate has applied. Eagan Male Chorus is the organization to get the ball rolling.
Thank you! Keep it going. We need input from all of you to provide a good choice of candidates for success of this program.

Topic: Scholarship Program 2008-2009
Comments: The Associated Male Choruses of America are pleased to announce their Scholarship Program for the 2008 - 2009 school year.
    As in the past, AMCofA is encouraging students of music to consider applying for one of the awards. Award values are $1,000 plus one top award for a value of $1,200.
    All sponsored candidates are evaluated by each AMCofA evaluator. Each evaluator separately examines candidate' information and provides grades in several categories. Special forms are provided to all evaluators to direct this activity and to provide results that are comparable for all candidates. These evaluation grades are sent to the Scholarship Chairman for consolidation in March of 2008. All results are processed and the top candidates are identified. Accordingly successful awardees are selected.

Topic: Scholarship Reminder for 2007
Comments: Many choruses are approaching mid term timing for this season's activities. Christmas concerts are past, new programs are being prepared and Big Sing details may be the order of the day.
This is also the time to remind you all of Scholarship activities. The AMCofA is awarding four generous scholarships again in April, 2007. It is hoped that by now your chorus' Governor will have made his pitch to all of you for the purpose of finding worthy candidates.

     Kimberly Shackleton: $1,000: College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, MN
     Chris J. Goltz: $1,000: University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, WI
     Mark C. Lundin: $1,000: University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, WI

Topic: Scholarship Activity
Comments: Winners have been chosen!!!!!
     The results from our scholarship evaluators are in and this year's group of winning candidates has been selected. Soon names, background information and pictures will be available for publication.
     It was very interesting that the results from evaluators dovetailed together so closely. There was no disagreement on who should win - only some difference in the order in which these winning students were arranged.
     It is good to see that our choruses are pursuing candidates. We all need to keep looking for more young music students to encourage and support.
     Since there are a limited number of successful candidates we must continue to support those who are not on this year's list. If they are still in a qualifying position in school they should be encouraged to try again.
     At this time each winning candidate is being contacted to have their qualifying activities confirmed. Their names and schools will be available for publication as this is accomplished.

Topic: Candidates to be evaluated
Comments: The time line for input to our scholarship program has just passed. It was very gratifying to see this program get underway again after a one year hiatus.
At this time application documentation and recording material is being copied for our evaluators. Soon it will all be ready and our evaluators will placed in the position of having to examine carefully and make their choices.

Topic: More about Scholarships for 2006-2007
Comments: The AMCA Scholarship Awards for the next school year have been determined and set.
    We are now looking for candidates to screen for four (4) scholarships. These four scholarships will be; three at a value of $1000 and one at a value of $1200. The Top Award goes to the special student who ranks above the others.
    Look to your closest AMCA Chorus for forms describing requirements, instructions and applications. Every AMCA Chorus should now have their master copies on hand.
    Very shortly all of the appropriate documents and their instructions will be available on this site. (See: Scholarship Forms.) All potential student candidates who download these forms need to find a sponsoring chorus. If such a group is unknown, forward your query to the chairman of the program. From there your information will be forwarded to the most appropriate chorus for follow up. You will be notified of the chorus and location when this takes place.
    AMCA wants to support those students who are involved in music study, involved in their communities and who are supported by their teachers.

Topic: Scholarships for 2006-2007
Comments: The AMCA Scholarship program for this season is under way. The first announcements have been e-mailed to the various district governors, and identified chorus contacts. This includes preliminary instructions and promotional material.
Students reading/contacting this website should contact a nearby AMCA chorus. If there is none nearby, contact the Chairman of the program.
Scholarships awarded will be for students attending qualifying classes during the 2006-2007 school years.

Topic: Scholarships will not be awarded for 2005-2006.
Comments: It is most unfortunate but there will be no scholarships awarded this year (for school year 2005-2006). We will try to get the system really rolling in time for scholarship awards to be made in Spring 2006 (for 2006-2007 school year). It seems there was no activity to find candidates. It is my understanding that there is one applicant at this time but I yet cannot seem to get the name of this person. When that is found, I feel that this person's application should be rolled over into the next session of evaluations.
