Update 3

From: Peter W. Jonas
Subject: Munising Big Sing 2004
Date: Sat, 17 Jan 2004 22:05:31 -0500

We just had our district meeting last week. One of the massed selections, "Stouthearted Men", was dropped from the list because we were about evenly split between two competing arrangements. In its place we added "Once Upon A Time". Here is the info that should now be listed as #4 on the web site:
Once Upon A Time (Director -- Don Crouch -- Milwaukee)
by Adams & Strouse
arr. William Simon 1979
Strada Music # B3-4145Ê TTBB

used in Munising Big Sing 1996
from "All American"

Thanks for your continuing assistance. Peter

Update 1

(Update from Minutes)
2004 Big Sing in Munising
Peter is looking for input on music selections...a suggestion was made to do numbers that are normally done at afterglow for the concert...in other words the "fun stuff" ...Peter liked it and said he would consider it.

Talked about music with more audience appeal...more fun to sing...less "challenging" to learn...if the singers enjoy singing the song, it shows and projects to the audience.

(Update from WUM Talk)

Subject: Entry to WUM Talk

The 2001 Big Sing was in Milwaukee, 2002 was in Rhinelander, and 2003 was a hurry-up concert in Munising after the collapse of the Lansing International.... The 2003 concert was thrown together in a little over 2 months. We had 5, not 6 choruses participating. There were consequently only 5 massed selections. There was no scholarship given on such short notice......

Regarding this year's massed selections, I have been waiting since August to make suggestions. Our summer/fall district meeting has not gotten off the ground... Paul has sent out my list of suggested songs for consideration. We are following Steve Butz' suggestion (Menominee district meeting of 2001 or 2002) that we have a concert where the solo numbers of each chorus are the light-hearted, humorous, peppy, etc., songs that spice up our afterglows. The selection process is up to the individual choruses, as usual. I wanted to come as close to that format as possible with the massed music, but, as you know all too well, the choices are really limited when we go out shopping for TTBB music....

The 'list' of options: (Please see the Music List Page.)

Another Opening, Another Show
No Business Like Show Business
Gonna Rise Up Singing
Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin', - Buryl Red and Joseph Joubert
It's a Grand Night for Singing
On a Wonderful Day Like Today (?)
Step to the Rear
Just a Closer Walk
