WE HAVE ALL BEEN CHANGED
-
I have no special knowledge about international affairs nor do think I have any special insight, but I have been affected (as many of you have no doubt) in many ways by the events that have taken place. This is a "troubling time" (at best). An usher in my church on Sunday (Sep 16) had his "red, white, and blue" displayed prominantly. We all feel we need to do something. I have found myself just "wanting to talk" to someone, "to make a new friend", to "reach out to someone to show I care", to "feel deeply with someone" about the events of the last week, to just be "human" and share "thoughts".... Have you too lost some of the "isolation" and "lack of identity" that some segments of our society foster? Have you too begun to "feel that we are all in this together" and that the seemingly "little things" that we each do REALLY "DO MATTER"? Have you too begun to realize that this is not "just a problem for the United States government" but of "free people everywhere"? Share some of your thoughts and feelings...... It may help just to "write them down" and "share them with others"!

I read these the other day:
"Any community - even to the level of our global society - is only as strong as the individual ties that we build and maintain every day." (I wonder if the same statement might apply to AMCA............ communications again, huh!)
"...there are no easy answers (for any of this). Freedom is never without risk, and although those risks come in many forms, the threat that lurks behind all of them is the loss of freedom itself."

Rochester Male Chorus Retreat on October 13, 2001
http://www.rochmalechorus.freeservers.com/
If your chorus is "hosting" a Big Sing, consider using the AMCA web site to "get the information out" to the participating choruses, use web site "submit forms" to collect registrations and music performance information, allow individuals to easily Ask Questions or make Comments and to receive Answers on the web, and keep participating choruses updated on your "host chorus" plans for YOUR Big Sing. See a guide at:
http://amcofa.org/bslocater.html
"He who waits to do a great deal of good at once will never do anything."
Email is certainly growing as a convenient communication - no "telephone tag", no "answering machine blues", no "interruption of other events", no waiting for a list of options on a telephone system. One can send a "specific" message and receive a "specific" answer that can be "dealt with at a convenient time". Let us know email addresses of AMCA chorus members ...

BETTER EMAIL AND INTERNET USE
-
---1---
Ever heard of BCC?
SENDING MESSAGES TO MULTIPLE RECIPIENTS SHOULD PROBABLY ONLY BE DONE IN BCC..........
http://www.serve.com/macsite/files_info.shtml#bcc
To minimize the appearance of long distribution lists at the top of your email message AND TO AVOID GIVING OUT THE EMAIL ADDRESSES OF ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS, when sending your email message to a group of people:
1-Send the message to yourself (To: yourname@yourcompany.com) and
2-Send a blind courtesy copy (BCC: recipientsname@theircompany.com) to all other recipients of your email message.
Each recipient of your email message will see only his or her name at the top of the email message. It makes for a nicer appearing email message and respects the security of your friends by not showing their email address to EVERYONE on your list (and who knows how many other lists on a FORWARD). Sometimes you WANT to disclose all the email address - then it is OK to put them all the TO: or the CC: sections but...........
FORWARD (Very Important): Please make sure you especially use the BCC: when sending those HORRIBLE FORWARDS of messages that you receive and that you decide to send on to everyone on your list (just because your were told to do so - like a puppet).
If you cannot figure out your BCC: in your email application, your friends (and I) will appreciate your avoiding sending messages to multiple addresses until you learn "how to do it properly". Thanks!

Micosoft has unsuspecting "Puppets" all over the place!
RECOMMENDED TO TURN OFF THE HTML IN YOUR EMAIL MESSAGES.....
http://amcofa.net/clips/emailhtml.html
Ever wonder why your email messages never comes back looking like you sent it?
Did you know that a great many people do not use HTML code in their email messages (email is text, information, and content - not "glitz and glamor"). If formatting is important to you, send an attached file (another whole issue).
Many Microsoft products (Outlook Express, etc.) have people sending HTML email messages without knowing that they are doing it. (HTML is a programmers code for creating web pages and there is much "garbage" inserted in your email message that you don't know about if you do not "turn off" the HTML in your messages.)
People that receive your email would appreciate if you would only send HTML email messages WHEN THERE IS SOME "TERRIFIC" REASON FOR DOING SO. Most HTML email messages become very messed up when read by email apps that "do the right thing" and read them as text only.
Please do not be a puppet for Microsoft. Find the place in your email preferences where you can change the settings so you send "TEXT" messages and not "HTML" messages. People receiving your email messages will see a much cleaner email message and things will work faster also.

"You should not confuse your career with your life."

"MEMORY was something that you lost with age..."
- Everyone else is doing it...
