Email Communication - July 2001
In Memoriam, Blueprint Repts, Officers, AMCA Events, Big Sings

10 July 2001

AMCAers,

I. IN MEMORIAM - Many of you have noted the passing of long-time AMCA and 3M Male Chorus member, Robert Anderson, Sr. Attention was also drawn at the International Meeting (in June) to other members that have recently passed away - Richard Bowles and George Stone Singers charter member, Andy Doral were included in thoughts of AMCA leaders.

II. BLUEPRINT FOR PROGRESS - This month's email information/report includes several items from the AMCA International Office. I hope you will access these items on the web site to "get in on" the concerns and directions being discussed for AMCA International.

1- May 2001: Interactive Column by Bill Bates announces and gives direction for delegates to the Spring AMCA International Meeting:

2- June 2001: Brief Report on International Meeting, will give you a feeling for the "happening", "procedures", and "results" of the June "Blueprint for Progress" meeting:

3- June 2001: Minutes of the International Meeting, provides more details of the meeting and other AMCA business items for those of you that have "taken the initiative" to request your "Password Access" to the site:

4- I'm sure Bill will have some interesting thoughts in his July 2001 Interactive Column ......

III. OFFICER POSITIONS - If you read the "International Minutes" or read the "Notable Items" (available on most of the AMCA Public Web Pages) you will notice there are currently International Officer openings. AMCA is in need of capable and interested persons "getting involved" in filling the vacant positions of "Historian" and "Scholarship Chair". Contact Bill Bates for more information.

IV. AMCA EVENTS - It is hoped that the "AMCA Highlights" javascript information board on most of the AMCA Public Web Pages will aid you in keeping current with Male Chorus activities. It would be great if individual choruses, district leaders, and international leaders would submit items to be included in these "Highlights". Any chorus activity, concert, notice, would be accepted and noted on this board. Items will remain on the board for an appropriate length of time. Just click on the "Enter Your Event" link on any "AMCA Highlights" board to submit your information or send me an email message wth the info, dthomas@pclink.com.

V. ACTIVITY? - The numbers of "hits on the web site (counters) have been down quite a bit this month (usual for June). I hope it is the result of "singers taking a vacation" from AMCA activities instead of "lack of interest" in the web site. Encourage your friends to access the AMCA web site, access it regularly yourself, and send in your chorus activity items so others can "get a feel for the personality" of AMCA though you. The web site is "only ONE way" of drawing attention to AMCA and AMCA chorus activities but it certainly can be a way that "reaches some people" if YOU use it. Please ACCESS THE SITE and SEND IN YOUR INFORMATION!!! Don't wait for someone else to send it in to me - why don't YOU do it! AMCA suffers from an "inactive membership" - why not "do your part to curtail this degeneration of our organization" and "become ACTIVE" in (at least) the AMCA Web Site!

VI. BIG SINGS - I will renew my offer of "hosting" web sites for District Big Sings if you want some electronic help in distribution of information and collecting registrations/responses. Some have felt that the web sites for the Upper Midwest District Big Sings have provided assistance in helping in this way. Contact me ----

Thanks for reading this far! Enjoy your summer!
