AMCA has assumed additional roles in expanding or extending interest in male chorus singing beyond AMCA. These "outreach" activities are represented by this AMCA Web Site, Big Sing Festivals, a printed Chorister publication, an annual Choral Compostion Contest, support in Music publications, and annual Scholarship awards to qualifying college music students. Each AMCA District assigns a host chorus to plan and host a big sing for that district each year. Every 5 years, there is a "Big Sing" for all member choruses "Big Sing 2008" was a "Multi-District" Big Sing in Eau Claire, MN "Big Sing 2003" was to be an International Festival in Lansing, Michigan "Big Sing 1998" was an International Festival in Amherst, New York "Big Sing 1993" was an International Festival in Marquette, MI "Big Sing 1988" was an International Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada In years when there is an "International Big Sing", AMCA Districts usually focus on the International event rather than hold "District Big Sings".
